Hands-On Learning in a Farm Setting

Farm School is the name of our preschool program, and it is designed for children who are 3, 4, or 5 years of age. Katydid Kids’ Farm School is a preschool program established to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow emotionally, socially and intellectually through developmentally appropriate experiences. The youngest, 3-year-olds, must be three by October 31st of the year enrolled and must be potty-trained to attend. Depending on the child’s age, class options include two, three, or four days per week.

Our philosophy at Farm School is learning through play. We believe that play is an effective method of learning and develops self-confidence. Children will get a chance to enjoy the sights and sounds of a working farm in a safe, enjoyable atmosphere. They will have the opportunity to observe the farm and its natural surroundings while enhancing their fine and gross motor skills.

Class Offerings

The Farm Preschool offers a variety of schedule choices to fit your child’s needs:

Days of the week: Depending on your child’s age, we provide options for the number of days of the week your child attends preschool.
Morning and afternoon schedule: We offer both morning and afternoon sessions for all ages.
Number of hours: Classes meet for 3.5 hours. However, we've also offered a “Lunchbunch” option for the morning classes, in which children can stay an extra hour and have lunch at the preschool. In 2025-26, we did not have enough interest for lunchbunch to be held. We will continue to evaluate demand on a year-to-year basis.
